How far in advance do I need to make an appointment?
Although we do offer walk in appointments we do advise clients to always try for an appointment, since we cannot guarantee that the service and/or technician will be immediately available. We suggest scheduling at least a week in advance for most services. Also, please arrive approximately 15 minutes prior to your first visit. Each appointment is timed according to our schedule and a late arrival may cause a change in your service. In order to honor the next clients scheduled appointment, your visit will still end at its originally scheduled time.
Do I need to reserve a service with a credit card?
Single services we will reserve with just a phone number, but packages or multiple services will be reserved with a credit card. We always hold the right to reserve any service with a credit card or gift certificate if we feel necessary. We accept Visa, MasterCard, Discover, and local checks. We do accept tips on credit cards or in checks, however cash tips are preferred and greatly appreciated.
What is your cancellation policy?
We require 24-hour notice for all cancellations. If you are unable to cancel by 10 am the day before your appointment, 50% of your reserved service will be charged to your credit card or gift certificate. All same day cancellations & no show appointments will be charged 100% of the service.
How do you book your wedding packages?
You can either call and speak to our manager or owner or come in for a free consultation about your wedding. We then go over your needs including the number in your bridal party, date, time availability, and services needed. We explain the details and help you decide on the correct plan of action for your bridal needs. All bridal party appointments are held with a credit card.
How do you sanitize your nail equipment?
We pride ourselves on providing a safe and sanitary environment for our nail area. We do offer a whirlpool jet pedicure tub and we take great care to disinfect with a __ solution after each person. We also take it a step further as recommended by the manufacturer, by using detergent and bleach to disinfect our motor after multiple uses. This ensures that dead skin cells are removed from the interior as well as the exterior of the machine. All files used are either for individual use and then discarded or sanitizable files are used and cleaned appropriately. We use a chemical disinfectant as well as a UV light disinfectant for our utensils.
Waxing
Do you offer waxing services for men?
We offer all waxing services except bikini or Brazilian for men.
Can you give any advice for first time waxing client?
Waxing is preferred for some over shaving because you have a longer time between services with smooth skin. For example, if you shave your legs, you are cutting the hair off at its surface and it is continuing to grow at the same rate. Therefore you may have to shave again the very next day. When you wax you are removing the hair from the follicle and this temporarily slows down the growth process. You then have to grow a new hair from the follicle out. Most people have about 2 weeks with smooth skin before they notice new hair. The hair will also seem softer growing back because the hair is new hair, not cut hair that can feel blunt to the touch.
What kind of commitment is it?
Give yourself a commitment of at least 3-6 months. It takes at least 2-3 visits (one visit every 4 weeks) to get your hair growing on the same cycle. What does same cycle mean? Well, all body hair grows to a natural length and then falls off. That is the difference between scalp hair growth and body hair growth. However, to make our bodies look even in hair coverage all the time they fall out in different cycles. That is why we are not naturally completely smooth at certain times. So after your first waxing you may feel a little stubble of the next cycle growing in that is too short to be waxed off at that visit. After the second or third visit you should be forcing your hair into growing all at the same time.
Does it hurt?
You may feel some discomfort, however the more you have it done the more you get used to the discomfort. Your first time you are removing the most hair and it is a new sensation. It does get better if you are regular with your appointments and don’t let it grow completely back in. You can also take an ibuprofen type anti-inflammatory about 20 minutes prior to your visit which may minimize redness and /or discomfort.
How long does my hair need to be?
Your hair needs to be at least ¼ of an inch in order to be waxed. If the hair is too short it can’t be waxed and if it is too long it will be more uncomfortable.
Will I get bumps?
Exfoliating is important before your visit and in between visits as well. Exfoliating with either a body scrub or loofah keeps the new hair from growing under the skin and causing an ingrown hair bump. It is normal for the skin to react to waxing by breaking out at first, but they do fade away. Again, if you are regular about getting waxed your reaction will diminish. You can use plain alcohol or purchase any no bumps liquid to help reduce blemishes or ingrown hairs.
What if I am on my menstrual cycle?
Do not wax on your period, because you will be more sensitive, we also do not offer Brazilian waxes at all if you are on your period.
What exactly are the different types of bikini waxes?
A regular bikini is just the outside of the underwear line. If you also have hair growth down your upper thigh, that is not considered part of the bikini line and would be an upper thigh add on.
A high cut bikini is where you go outside the lines of a high cut thong or take the lines closer together.
A Brazilian bikini is where all pubic hair is completely removed from the front to around the anus. You may leave a landing strip (rectangle) or triangle, but you are are perfectly smooth underneath.
Airbrush Tanning
What do I have to do for an airbrush tan?
All you have to do is come in with clean freshly exfoliated skin (exfoliated either with a body scrub or loofah is fine) and make sure you have waxed or shaved anything you so desire. Do not put any lotion or oil on your skin the day of the tan because it will cause less absorption by the tanning liquid. We will be putting your hair up and covering it, so having it in a ponytail or clip off your neck is helpful. During the actual airbrushing of your tan you can go nude if you wish, or whatever you are comfortable wearing. Bear in mind that whatevery you do wear will leave a “tan line”. Wear loose fitting clothes to put back on that will not bind the skin. Tight socks or hose for example would create a line, so wear loose clothes that are comfortable. We recommend sandals or flip flops as well. If you do get any tanning solution on your clothes they should come out with a regular wash, but we do not guarantee any clothing. Your visit will be performed by a same sex technician and will last only about 10- 15 minutes. You will then dry for about 5 minutes and be able to change back into your clothes. After your tan do not exfoliate but do try to moisturize with either oil or lotion as often as you like. The tan will last about 6 10 days depending on how well you keep your skin moisturized and it will fade as your skin naturally exfoliates.
